1986 - The first NAMM show
Len Roberts was hired to do sales and marketing for Jeff. He had sound / technical and sales / business experience and would sell things for Jeff over the phone that Jeff had never made before, but Jeff was welcoming the challenge.
That was also the year of his first computer purchase, an Apple MAC 512 with a 20mg hard drive and two printers. Lenny and Jeff created and printed their first brochures.
They also hired Joy (sister) to help advertise the business using the Marilyn Monroe guitar. Ads went in Guitar World magazine and the local newspaper, The Illinois Entertainer.
The space at the NAMM show was in the basement and showcased all the new color cabinets .... pastels (for Miami Vice) was hot.
This was the second to the last time NAMM would use the Chicago McCormick Place as their venue.
